It's the last day of Men's Health Week! Today we've got some sexual health info for out transmasculine brothers and nonbinary siblings taking testosterone! The general expectation is that starting testosterone (or ´T´) will dramatically increase your sex drive. However, this isn’t always the case - some people find it stays the same or even decreases. The most important thing is to be honest with yourself and your partner(s) and communicate your feelings and needs during a time of change. T can change vaginal lubrication, so some people find they just don’t produce enough. This change seems to be more of a problem during the first few years on testosterone. Reduced levels of oestrogen affect the thickness of the walls of the vagina which may result in tiny unnoticed tears happening more easily during sex, which can increase the risk of STIs. This all means that you need to take extra care to use lube and protection such as condoms to have safe enjoyable sex! Some poeple who take T also stop having a period or their period becomes very irreglar. Even if you don't have a period anymore you could still become pregnant.
