Hello 👋 happy bank holiday! You voted for some more yoga posture tips in my recent story feed. Starting this off I am going to break down dancers pose with you, my favourite asana. ❤️ This posture is a beautiful marriage between strength, balance, flexibility and meditation. 💫 To do the posture: ✨Start in Tadasana (mountain pose). Inhale bend your right leg and catch the inside of your foot with your right arm, as you also extend your left arm up in line with your ear. ✨Making sure to keep your hips square, exhale start to kick your foot into your right palm. Focus on creating this natural arch in the lower back, reaching its full maximum before you bring your body down. ✨Inhale to extend and lift up out of your spine and exhale start to bring your body down. You must pull up on your knee cap to avoid locking out the standing leg which can cause too much pressure on the knees. ✨As you reach your maximum depth in the posture focus in on your breath by making smooth and steady inhale and exhalations. Engage the abdominal wall to protect your lower spine. ✨Keep kicking into your palm as you simultaneously reach forwards. This motion of pushing and pulling is what creates the balance in the asana. ✨To intensity the posture being your leading arm parallel to the ground and create this laser beam focus. Focus on one point only, square of your hips and drive your body down as your leg comes behind your head. 🧘‍♀️ Every ‘body’ is different and we all find asanas different to each other. Be mindful when practicing the posture and realise that it is ok to take it slow. Even if you just stay at the first step, it’s a step in the right direction. Practice gently and focus your attention on creating balance, strength and flexibility in both your body and mind.
