When people start commenting on your progress it really makes you feel like all the early mornings, boring food and muscle soreness is worth it! This is my first Comp prep and to be perfectly honest I've had a few meltdowns and moments of I can't do this I'm not cut out for this!! Because this shit is hard!! A lot of people only show you the good parts of their comp prep and make it look glamorous but let me tell you it takes every ounce of will power you possess and the end result is glamorous but most days I look like a sweaty, tired, untamed mess! But it will not defeat me!! #Repost @fitness_iq • • • Far too many times I see people shrugging at the beginning or in between reps during their squats such as above. . I'm sure many don't even realize that they are doing this (bad habit) and one reason you are might be because you're breathing into your chest oppose to your diaphragm. Which can decrease your overall tightness (stack joints position) and can lead to a potential injury especially if you are under heavier loads. . Make sure that when you're performing the squat your creating intra abdominal pressure to increase stability and protect your lumbar. Also, keep the bar as stable as possible when it's on your back by not shrugging after every rep to "re-righting" yourself. Press it into the shelf you created by retracting your scapula and keep it there until you're done your set to avoid any shear force. . As you can see I am a real motivational quote person. Words get me going. I love a good movie quote, and most of my peaceful quiet moments I can be found buried in a book. It drives Mike to insanity 🤣😂 Today marks day 1 of the 8 week challenge. I woke with zero motivation after a crap nights sleep (thank you 2 year old drama queen) my coffee tasted like balls, so water it was. Anyone who drinks coffee knows, you skip your morning one... It's all down hill from there. Enter life in southland... predicted snow in the forecast and I had to drive to the airport... 2 hours away... great. Fast forward to lunch, I had about 25 seconds worth of spare time... Macdonalds it was.... for a SALAD. Let's look at this a sec... I do not salad at the best of times... and definitely not from MacDonalds. But low and behold... salad I did. And you know what. It was damn good. Not as good as a triple cheeseburger, but what can you do!? Tonight... It's snowing, howling a gale, generally rubbish weather for working out.... but I pushed out a 45 minute workout outside and did an extra 20 reps of box jumps and 1 legged squats. My arms are mush, My legs have the shakes and my abs feel like I have been booted by a cow... but I'm good. Day 1 down. Tomorrow is running day. Busy day ahead... Getting blood drawn for genetic testing of methylene tetrahydrofolate reductase mutation and lots of errands to run - stuff's just been piling up like crazy. Quick fix when you were up all night studying and forgot to meal prep...? Even on the go there are clean options. This contains 1 apple, 1/3 of a peach, ground coconut, 2/5 of a banana, passion fruit and 6 cashew nuts and.... NOTHING ELSE ✌✌✌ No additives, sugar, food colouring or stabilizers... It's great to see more and more companies picking up this kind of mentality!
